Holistic/generalist Counselling

Being a holistic therapist is such a rewarding role and connects you to so many people and so many stories.

I’ve been blessed to work with some of the most amazing human beings, some of which have stayed a long time, while others only stay a session or two.

As a holistic counsellor based in the Redlands, I tend to use very gentle practices that explores your mental, physical, spiritual and emotional well-being. I truly believe that we are multi-dimensional beings and if we neglect any of these aspects of self, then we are not holistically healing.

The core of my work is taking people on an inner journey and understanding that there are many parts of us that need our attention. I use intuitive guided visualisations, play therapy and mindfulness and breathing practices. It takes a courageous human being to explore their inner wounds and become aware of why they act, feel and think the way they do. Ultimately, what we are doing is bringing the unconscious to the conscious.

I also have a passion for grief counselling. After experiencing many losses myself, I know how isolating the grief journey can be, therefore, being present with another human being as they grieve the loss of a loved one, in my opinion is a true gift.  My promise to you, is that I will be there for you, while you grieve your loved one.

If I was to describe the type of therapeutic work that I offer, I would have to say, that it’s relaxed, gentle, yet, thought-provoking and holistic. Not many counsellors openly talk about using their intuition in therapy, but I do. I have a strong intuition and trust it immensely. Each one of us walk the path we call “LIFE” and at times, the journey can be exhausting and challenging, painful and confronting. If you choose me to walk the path with you, I promise to open an avenue that allows you to explore your path from many perspectives, creating a new energy pathway that will enhance your overall well-being.

I provide a space for people to unpack their inner world and at times, fall apart. This might sound dramatic or negative to some of you, but it is far from negative. There is nothing more powerful than to go within and uncover the pain that is living inside you.  Each of us have experienced circumstances that changed our life path and lead us to a place that is deeply painful and foreign.

We all deserve to be “seen” and “heard” and feel like we “matter” in the world.

For many of us the easy way out is to either “avoid” our pain or “blame” someone else for how we feel. Blaming others takes away our power to be responsible for our own well-being and avoiding our pain, keeps us stuck there.

As difficult as life can be sometimes, just having someone to support you on your healing journey, can be the difference between happiness and unhappiness.  We all deserve to live our joy.

If I could sum up what I do in just a few words it would be that “I walk with those that are ready to explore their pain as they seek hope, healing and happiness”.

Why the right counsellor is important

I want you to imagine for a minute the friends you have in your life. I have no doubt you have friends you can talk to openly and really trust, and then you have friends you don’t talk to openly, yet you still value their friendship. Finding the right counsellor is as equally important as having a friend you can trust. Even though counsellors are not your friend, they are a professional who establishes an open relationship with you that entails trust. This trusting relationship then allows you the opportunity to open up and work through your issues. When a positive therapeutic relationship is established between counsellor and client, change will occur.

my Definition of Counselling

Counselling is so much more than talking, its an opportunity to tune into a language that we don’t often give a voice to and that is our inner world. So many people avoid what they feel inside and try and fix it with solution focused techniques. I want to hear your inner world speak to me as we gently explore all aspects of self, unfolding the layers of life and eventually tapping into the authentic being, the true aspect of self .
