Tears That Tell A Story

Tears That Tell A Story

Crying is such a powerful expression of emotions. We cry when we are happy and we cry when we are sad. Crying is a release.

Often there is a build-up of emotions that swirl inside us and it’s not until we cry that we release the emotions and feel a little lighter again.

I have no doubt that you have cried a river of tears. Each teary episode giving you the gift of letting go of the intensity of the pain that lives inside you.

I love to cry. As much as it is exhausting and tires me out completely, it also gives me an opportunity to express my inner world.

Tears tell a story. When we are grieving the loss of someone, tears tell us things like “I miss that person”. “I wish that person didn’t die”. “I am very sad”.

Reflect back to a time when you got teary about your mum or you might be teary right now. I want you to imagine that you are your tears and that your tears are telling a story. Let your tears tell you about what it is that you are feeling or felt in that moment.

In your journal, let your tears express themselves through words.  Give your tears a voice. What are your tears telling you?  This might sound a bit strange to some of you, but each part of us deserves an opportunity to be expressed, including our tears.

Some of us cry every single day because the loss is so unbearable. If that is you, then your tears have so much to say. Sometimes our tears are the only way of expressing ourselves, because saying the words out loud may not be received well (depending on who is around you, of course).

Next time you cry, ask yourself “what are my tears telling me?”

“My tears tell a story of a love so strong, it hurts”
